'Oswego' is a northern pecan selected by Dr. William Reid at Kansas State University from a seedling of the older variety 'Green River'. It produces large, easy-shelling, high-quality nuts, about 66 to 70 per pound, and was chosen for its excellent disease resistance and heavy annual production. It is a Type II (protogynous) pecan, so it needs a Type I pecan nearby for pollination. Rated for zones 5 to 9.
